Dim sum at Red Star (chinatown)

Here I am, sitting at table 57, chatting with the aunties excitingly.
Soon I have 4 helpful aunties offering me all the goodies hidden in
their push cart.

Just look at the picture below, don't they look tempting. My favourite
is their fish head, seafood fried roll and mango pudding. Mango
pudding is unique as they serve with milk and they do have real mango
chucks in it. The fish head has a strong taste of ginger. The leftover
is the pic with egg tart. These are the 2 dishes that we can't finish.

Overall, I will go back and try again. Considering the nice
environment they have n great food n friendly aunties. Good service.
Going to pay for the bill now. Hope it's not shocking:)

It's really restaurant qulity at afforable price. Excellent! Every
dishes we order are good, nothing to complain.

They selling at hawker price [Price range $3/4 per plate] but their filling are solid and full.
One word : Must try!

Negative: It far away from Bugis MRT station but it doesn't seem to dim the crowd away from this place.

Tanyoto Restaurant

By chance, I get to dine in Tanyoto Restaurant. Initially, I thought it is a Japanese Restaurant because of its name and its location, level 1 of Liang Court. But it turn out to be a Chinese Restaurant that serve Chuan cuisine. Even though, it only 5pm [weekend], it is already 85% occupied. So, it would be better to call ahead and reserve your seat, so you don’t have to queue for it. I would recommend this restaurant to fish lover or someone who want to try a different type of steamboat.
FYI: It has over 110 restaurants across Shanghai, Beijing, Tawain and Hong Kong etc and its Quite popular in China.

So, what the uniqueness about this steamboat? According to the restaurant, the chilli used in the soup base can only pluck on 7 days in a year and it must be seal up for 1 full year before it can be used. Such method preserves both the chilli freshness and color. And it will not cause heatness after consuming. As it is well known, how healthy it is to eat fish and the various nutrients that fish contain, this steamboat is classified as healthy food.[Maybe, this explain it popularity]. Another specialty of this place is the size of the fish head. Half of the fish head already occupy the whole pot, so you can imagine how big it is, even the fish eye ball is full of fish meat. [Errrr…. look yummy and seem challenging to eat]. Did we order the fish eye ball? Of course not, because I am still not daring enough to eat it. Haha…

For the 2 of us, we order yuan yang steamboat Tanyoto's Health Wild Mushroom Soup[$24] & Tanyoto Peppery Flavoring Soup with Capsicum[$16], Secret Recipe Fish Head [$30], Fish Neck [$18], U.S. Beef[$28], Pork Liver[$5], Vegetable Platter [$12], Bee-hoon [$4] & Walnut with Fungus [$6]. The fish is really fresh, nothing like I ever eat before. I love the fish cheek as usual. The Walnut with Fungus taste delicious as well. The rest are normal. But the wild mushroom soup is really good, it keep me drinking bowl after bowl. A lot variety of mushroom in the soup hence if you order this soup base, you can skip ordering mushroom =) [2 for the price of 1].

Overall, it a good experience. To be fair, the price is on the steep side but the fish dishes are succulent. For me, I do find it costly. Will I go back again? Maybe, if special occasion demand or with fish lover.

2D1N Soju BAng Korean Restaurant

Ever heard of 2D1N Sujo Bang? I had just finish a super delicious meal there. As usual a good meal will always make me as happy as a child who receives a candy. The words that I can use to describe this Korean restaurant are Fantastic, Excellent, Delicious, and Value for money, Fresh! It is know as 2D1N Soju BangKorean Restaurant, funny name right? But I was mesmerized by the food that I forget to ask why it is name so.

To be true, the first time I walk past this restaurant, my first impression is it is costly [from the menu] but the endless Korean crowd drawn me to it. So I decided, I have to give it a try the next time I come to Tanjong Pager. So here I am, standing in 2D1N at about 9plus pm, waiting for a lady to clear the table. The atmosphere here gives you a homely feeling if you love or miss Korea because there is warm welcome from the Korean staffs and plenty of Korean guests around. So it is not exactly a romantic place but more like a place for oversea Korean to gather when they miss their home. But they have the individual room so if you book the room before you go it be more cozy for you.

Well coming to the main points, why I would still want to go back and highly recommend this place. It is because of it generous and high quality food. Can you believe, for a $30 sg, you can a simmering hot pork rib with potato soup throughout the meal [like steamboat], free refillable Korean side dishes [5 types] and free bottle mineral water. Do not underestimate the Korean side dishes, they are really fresh and I guess they are all home make by them. We are served with whole piece of silken tofu laced with some Korean sauce, crunchy cucumber [which make u feel very healthy when u eat it =) hence I ask for 2nd round], traditional kimchi [not too spicy or what, just right to eat it alone], honey sweet tapioca and radish. I feel guilty for not able to finish up these side dishes. As for the main dish, the pork rib are those with soft bone full of collagen, tender, boneless and big piece [I don’t consider soft bone as bone as they can be eaten =)] This dish is accompany with potato well cooked, leeks and some other herbal vegetables [I don’t know what are those but definitely not our typical Chinese vegetable]. And the soup base is not too salty, we are able to just dine on the main dish without any rice. And they will help you refill the soup as well without you waving for them to refill. So, I must say they are quite attentive.

So for only $30 [main dish price] +$3[service charge], you have free kimchi, bottle mineral water, wet tissue and dry tissue for 2 pax. In fact, it can be for 3 to 4 gals serving. What more, there is pub beside it, if you do not wish to drink soju, you can hop over to the pub beside it.

Oh, 1 more thing, we end our meal about 10.30pm and there is still plenty of people inside 2D1N. A couple beside still went out for a smoke and go back to continue their meal.
Good service & good food, I will return again to try out their other dishes =)
Warning: My photo is taken by iphone and with poor lighting, it did not do the dishes justly.

Moon Ladder at Labrador Park

A place where you can eat, drink, chill out, enjoy the gorgeous South China Sea View and sunset all at the same. and it is known as Villa Seafood Galleria[Chinese Seafood restaurant] downstair and Moon Ladder Bar & Bistro upstair.

The very first impression I have of this place is it like a Glass cube house. And its even has a cube glass house outside beside the pool! It look like an ideal place to house any outdoor event or even ROM/wedding. I actually intend to hold mine here because of it uniqueness but after reading a bad review, i still deciding should I try it. But I have found another ideal place. Refer to my blog and guess which is the one :P

Well back to topic, do take note if the lady is wearing heel, she will find it a challenge to climb up 2 flights of pebble-filled staircase and with only a transplant rail to hold on to. So gentleman out there, kindly help your lady friend. And its a chance to grab hold of your dream lady hand =p But up at Moon Ladder Bar & Bistro, you can chill out with its wide range of drinks and finger foods. Or go on Fridays and Saturdays which is Moon Ladder’s Open Grill Night at the price of $38++.

As for the Villa Seafood Galleria, at certain seating, you too get to enjoy un obstrude sea view. The food here is delicious and beautiful set but at a pricy cost. Below are some of the dishes that I try

1] Shark’s fin soup, its actually attractively served in coconut.
2] Steamed Garoupa with soy sauce, very fresh
3] Brocolli stir fried with XO sauce
4] Crispy Beijing duck
5] Wasabimayo prawn

Before you meal or After an expensive meal , you can opt to go for quiet stroll around Labrador Park to either work up your appetite or to digest your meal.
